Jeff made Lookout Landing a thing, but he does not still write there about the Mariners. He does write here, sometimes about the Mariners, but usually not.

Let say the Giants hypothetically had second thoughts about Melky and wanted to add him to the roster before game 3. Could they?

In general, though, I believe the Giants could swap out an injured position player for Melky, and then the injured player wouldn’t be eligible to return in the same series or in the next one.

I could be wrong, but I believe that his suspension carries into the first 5 games of the playoffs, so no. However, if he weren’t suspended, they could add him, but the player he replaced would not be allowed to come back in the NLCS should they advance.
