I’m baffled by this Difo promotion. Can you try to explain why they would promote him this early and what should we expect out of him?

Kiley McDaniel: Sounds like they were short on 40-man hitters to call up and he’s an early-count contact guy that is less likely to be embarassed than other guys. He’s also 23 and was a late bloomer, so you can see what they’re thinking, don’t think this is helpful for his development, though.

Dave Cameron: A .360 ISO isn’t really something that he can keep up, so ratchet down the power some, and the average will fall as some of those HRs get caught at the wall. But .280/.420/.580 or something? Sure.

how has evaluating prospects changed over the last 10, 20, 30 years?

Kiley McDaniel: I can only guess since I started in the last 10 years. Lots more phone calls and relationships, along with way poorer scouting info/consensus and stats due to communication via technology and showcases/access to players

Kiley McDaniel: Could be. Has the tools to be a solid starting center fielder, but the bat is seen as just okay, so the speed needs to play in all phases.
