Is there any precedent at all for a HOF voter to lose his voting privileges other than death or voluntarily giving them up?

Dave Cameron: I don’t think so. Bill Conlin, who was forcibly retired after being accused by multiple relatives of child molestation, is still a BBWAA member in good standing and has a HOF vote. They’ll almost certainly kick the person out of the organization who sold their vote to Deadspin, but Conlin will keep on voting as long as he wants.

Stat question here: Is BABIP affected by the ballpark you’re playing in? Is there somewhere we can look up the BABIP of a ballpark? Or perhaps it would be more accurate to look up the effect +/- a given ballpark has on a player’s BABIP? Though the latter would be hard to split apart from the quality of the home team’s defense. Still, it makes sense–if a ballpark is larger, you should be able to hit for a bigger BABIP in said ballpark, no?

Who is the best keeper for 2014 season? Josh Donaldson, Trevor Rosenthal, Patrick Corbin or Kris Medlen?

Paul Swydan: For strictly 2014, I will say Donaldson. Long-term I like Rosenthal, especially if he finds his way back to the starting rotation.

Jeff Zimmerman: Donaldson, I always like taking the hitter, but it is a tough call.

Every year ZiPS predicts Ben Rever will hit a HR and I laugh. Can you go into the process that leads to such a crazy projection? If he’s “rounding up to 1” is he slowly dropping from 0.8 HR to 0.6 HR or something?

Jeff Sullivan: Balfour’s going to be an interesting one — the Rays will be in there provided his price is lower than it was, but if the Mariners get somewhat bold or miss out on other targets they’ve been asking about a veteran closer type and Balfour could now cost a lot less than Rodney

With all the ridiculous moves I’ve made, why do I still have a job?

Dave Cameron: Because it doesn’t look ridiculous to an owner to get rid of a player coming off a bad year. Towers specialty of late is selling low on talented guys coming off poor performances.

Dave Cameron: Not hard to sell those kinds of moves, even if they’re not a great idea.

I loved Zimmerman’s articles on hitter aging curves. How robust do you think the findings are, i.e., that “Chances are the [position] player is likely producing at his career-best [at the beginning of his MLB career]”? Great start… But a lot more work is needed, right?

Dave Cameron: Yeah, I’d tread carefully on conclusions. It could just be a blip.
