|
| 9:00 |
: Hi guys. Jeff will be along in two minutes. I’m going to put up one more poll in the meantime.

Hi Dr. Nick! |
| 9:02 |
: Hi everyone
|
| 9:02 |
: Good to start the year with a Simpsons reference. Let’s get it.
|

|
| 9:01 |
: Welcome to live baseball chat
|
| 9:02 |
: Today we hear about the Hall of Fame, which is something I’m told I’m supposed to have an interest in. You are free to ask Hall of Fame questions, but I can’t promise a passionate response

You should do a weekly podcast even when Dave comes back. |
| 9:02 |
: All up to Carson but I’m open to it. Maybe biweekly. I feel anxious when we publish a podcast that doesnt’ talk about baseball at all because I feel like we’re letting people down?
|
| 9:03 |
Hi Jeff. Happy New Year to you and yours! As of January 6, who do you see as the biggest name out there that will switch teams before the season starts? |
| 9:04 |
: Hello friends
|
| 9:05 |
: I hope you’re having a pleasant this time of year
|
| 9:05 |
: If anybody is around, let us discuss the sport that we discuss
|
| 9:05 |
All this talk of Drew going to get 9-10 a year for multiple years is ridonculous right? |
| 9:05 |
: I would’ve believed it to be more ridiculous before Kendrys Morales got real money for two guaranteed seasons. Seems teams are willing to forgive the missed-spring-training thing, and Drew is a shortstop in a market that doesn’t have any

Why don’t you do this chat at 3pm or something, take the opportunity to sleep in? |
| 11:59 |
: PLEASE ACTUALLY WORK THIS WEEK!!!!
|
| 11:59 |
HE MADE IT |
| 11:59 |

Tell me mean things about Nelson Cruz |
Dan Szymborski’s chat today has been interrupted by provider problems. Sorry.
| 11:21 |
: See you soon! In the mantime, it’s about the music, not the words.

I think the most important thing from all this Kemp physical drama is learning that his agent is MFing JUNIOR SPIVEY! |
| 12:01 |
: A world championship was not enough for the man. A world-class nickname was not enough for him. Rhyming with spidey was not enough for him.
|
| 12:01 |
Wait I had a question. Are the Cubbies done this off season? |
| 12:02 |
: I’ve got a piece going up today about biggest needs, and their corner outfield situation was on it. I think it’ll get filled with Kris Bryant.
|
| 2:44 |
: Hey all, we’ll get started at 3pm. Fill up the queue with questions about sabermetrics, data, FG, etc, but also anything and everything else you might want to discuss.
|
| 2:59 |
: Alright I’m sure you all have a lot of questions about the big deal of the day, so let’s talk Sergio Romo!
|
| 3:00 |
: I kid.
|
| 3:00 |
its odd how little “star player __ talking to free agent ___ to get him to stay/join his team” does not work. Ie, Buatista talking to melky. if i was melky i would have trouble saying no |
| 3:01 |
: I think in general “star player” is not an influential position. Melky’s best friend on the team might matter, but there’s no reason to think you would listen to the advice of a player about where to sign just because he’s good!
|
| 3:03 |
: Tried to flip the display mid chat. One sec
|
| 11:48 |
: Well, this is a fun day to chat. Let’s talk Wil Myers and other things.
|
| 12:01 |
If the Padres really get Myers, how does that affect the Justin Upton trade market? Any chance the Giants get involved? |
| 12:01 |
: Upton never really made much sense for the Padres. I’m not sure there’s an obvious fit out there for the Braves. The Rangers, maybe, but they probably shouldn’t be trading for rentals either.
|
| 12:02 |
Tim Brown has it the Mariners have been calling CHC on Ruggiano. Seems a likely fit for the reported deals we were hearing that included a not-really-significant RH hitter coming to SEA. What’s a fair price to pay? |
| 12:02 |
: A middling bullpen arm.
|
| 12:02 |
Who ends up with Myers? |
