Jay Jaffe FanGraphs Chat – 11/10/20
2:01 |
: Good afternoon, folks, and welcome to the first edition of my weekly chat since the end of the regular season! While the queue fills, I’ve got a bit of housekeeping….
|
2:01 | : Here’s today’s dispatch, on the status of the universal DH and how a number of aging hitters are caught in limbo |
2:02 | : Here’s yesterday’s piece on the Indians’ plans to trade Francisco Lindor and how they’re complicated by the presence of so many other alternatives on this year’s market and next |
2:03 | : And, since he’s giving his re-introductory press conference right now, here’s last Friday’s piece on the Red Sox’s rehiring of Alex Cora |
2:03 |
: OK. As we tell our 4-year-old daughter, the question store is open….
|
2:03 |
: If you had to put money on it, please rank Bellinger, Buehler and Seager in terms of HOF likelihood.

World Series Game 6 Chat
8:06 |
: Get your snacks and drinks in order, everyone. We have our first elimination game of the 2020 World Series.
|
8:06 |
: I am simultaneously excited for this game and sad that it might be our last of the year
|
8:06 |
: lets go
|
8:06 |
: Tuesdays are for the Chois. I hope.
|
8:06 |
: Ohmygodohmygodohmgodohmygod
|
8:06 |
: I am genuinely not ready for this

World Series Game 5 Chat
8:02 |
: Good evening!
|
8:02 |
Last night’s game was the only 9 inning game in that short list… can we quantify whether that was indeed the craziest 9 inning WS game? |
8:03 |
: I actually have something on this for the morning.
|
8:03 |
: I’m already dreading this series for Kershaw and Dodgers. Instead of reversing the ‘narratives’, game 4 ended up enforcing all of them. Now they have to rely on Kershaw to be super human – again – to reverse the tide and pitch until his arm falls off.
|
8:03 |
: Every playoff series has an awkward narrative.
|
8:03 |
: I have no memory of last night. Please, no one tell me what I missed.
|
World Series Game 4 Chat
8:00 |
: Hello everyone
|
8:01 |
: Expectations for Urias tonight? Is 5 innings too much to expect?
|
8:02 |
: To expect, yes.
|
8:02 |
: It’s time for Dodger (and Ray) Baseball!
|
8:02 |
: Just killing time until the Wiz play tonight
|
8:02 |
: Hi Brendan!
|
World Series Game 3 Chat
8:01 |
: Hi everybody, Jay and I are excited to spend Game 3 hanging out with you all. First pitch is in just a few minutes.
|
8:02 |
: Good evening and welcome to the chat! I’m popping in for a few minutes here but i’ll have to duck out soon t help put the kiddo to bed.
|
8:02 |
: Looks like beating Charlie Morton might be the best shot at revenge against the 2017 Astros that the Dodgers will ever get
|
8:03 |
: If Tampa Bay kept a payroll similar to the Dodgers, do you think they would create a better team than the Dodgers?
|
8:03 |
: It’s an odd coincidence that one of those Astros is again facing the Dodgers in the World Series. Morton was the guy who closed out Game 7 with four innings of one-run ball. He obviously wasn’t hitting but he’s said he was aware of the trash can banging
