Ranking the MLB Prospects Traded at the 2025 Deadline

Ranked and briefly analyzed below are the prospects who have been traded during the loosely defined “2025 deadline season,” which for simplicity’s sake I consider all of July. Most of the deals these prospects were a part of have been analyzed at length on this site. An index of those pieces can be found here; you can also click the hyperlink in the “Trade” column below, which will take you to the relevant article. I’ve moved all of the 35+ FV and above players listed here to their new orgs over on The Board, so you can click through to see where they rank among their new teammates and read their full scouting reports, which have been updated where applicable. The Farm System Rankings, which update live, also reflect these changes, so you can see where teams’ systems stack up following the draft and the deadline.
FV | Rank | Player | Pos | Age | To | From | Trade |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
50 | 1 | Leo De Vries | SS | 18.8 | ATH | SDP | Miller | Switch-hitting infielder with power, question marks on defense and versus high fastballs. Future everyday player. |
50 | 2 | Khal Stephen | SP | 22.6 | CLE | TOR | Bieber | Plus command of three average or better pitches, prototypical workhorse frame and stamina. Near-ready no. 3/4 starter. | 47 | 3 | Eduardo Tait | C | 18.9 | MIN | PHI | Duran | Lefty-hitting catcher with plus power and arm strength. Poor ball/strike recognition brings serious volatility. |
47 | 4 | Adam Serwinowski | SP | 21.2 | LAD | CIN | Littell | Southpaw with prototypical size, plus fastball, potentially plus slider. Needs a third pitch. |
47 | 5 | Blade Tidwell | SP | 24.2 | SFG | NYM | Tyler Rogers | Big-framed righty with deep repertoire headlined by a plus slider. Mechanical violence creates relief risk. |
45 | 5.5 | Alan Roden | RF | 25.6 | MIN | TOR | Varland | Recent rookie graduate with plus contact skills, but less power than is ideal for a corner outfielder. Big league-ready platoon bat. |
45 | 6 | Ryan Bergert | SP | 25.4 | KCR | SDP | Fermin | A 2025 change in arm slot and fastball playability buoyed Berget’s projection to a no. 4/5 starter. |
45 | 7 | Kohl Drake | SP | 25.0 | ARI | TEX | Kelly | Big-framed lefty with command of deceptive riding fastball. Limited secondary stuff. |
45 | 8 | Mitch Bratt | SP | 22.1 | ARI | TEX | Kelly | Superlative strike-thrower with uphill fastball, limited secondary stuff. |
45 | 9 | Mick Abel | SP | 24.0 | MIN | PHI | Duran | Athletic righty with prototypical size who has struggled with spats of poor fastball movement and control. Rejuvenated curveball still gives him a no. 4/5 starter look. |
45 | 10 | Roc Riggio | 2B | 23.1 | COL | NYY | Bird | Plus second base defender with actualized above-average power. Potential Rougned Odor type in skill and demeanor. |
FV | Rank | Player | Pos | Age | To | From | Trade |
45 | 11 | Kendry Rojas | SP | 22.8 | MIN | TOR | Varland | Well-built lefty with riding mid-90s fastball. Control-over-command type with fringe secondary stuff, no. 4/5 starter on track for a 2026 debut. |
45 | 12 | Christian Franklin | CF | 25.7 | WSN | CHC | Soroka | Lefty-mashing part-time outfielder, plus in the corners and playable in center. |
45 | 13 | Drew Gilbert | CF | 24.8 | SFG | NYM | Tyler Rogers | Well-rounded fourth outfielder with tweener fit on defense. Plays with an edge. |
45 | 14 | James Tibbs III | RF | 22.8 | LAD | BOS | May | Well-rounded, compact, lefty-hitting corner outfielder with strong side platoon projection. |
45 | 15 | Hunter Cranton | SIRP | 24.8 | ARI | SEA | Suarez | Monster uphill fastball and effectively wild slider. Sitting 98 since return from IL, will move fast and play higher-leverage role. |
45 | 16 | Wellington Aracena | SIRP | 20.6 | BAL | NYM | Soto | A-ball madcap righty with nasty, cutting, upper-90s fastball at peak. |
45 | 16.5 | Draft Pick | CompA | 2026 | ARI | MLB | Keeping Zac Gallen | Assuming Gallen is QO’ed and signs a sufficiently large deal elsewhere, this draft pick will fall just after round one, which is where the tier of 45 FV players tends to end for me. |
40+ | 17 | Yunior Marte | SP | 21.9 | SFG | KCR | Yastrzemski | Broad-shouldered 6-foot-5 A-ball righty with exciting slider/splitter combo. High-risk mid-rotation prospect. |
40+ | 18 | Tyler Locklear | 1B | 24.7 | ARI | SEA | Suarez | Plus-gloved first baseman who’s made drastic changes to his swing this year. Effective part-timer if paired with lefties. |

40+ | 20 | David Hagaman | SP | 22.3 | ARI | TEX | Kelly | Fresh off of TJ, exciting 6-foot-4 righty with a loose, powerful delivery and burgeoning secondary stuff. |
FV | Rank | Player | Pos | Age | To | From | Trade |
40+ | 21 | Braden Nett | MIRP | 23.1 | ATH | SDP | Miller | Hard-throwing righty with a nasty cutter and fringe command. On the starter/reliever line, but has big stuff. |
40+ | 22 | Jeter Martinez | SP | 19.5 | PIT | SEA | Ferguson | Raw developmental teenager with crude control, upper-90s arm strength, plus-flashing secondaries. |
40+ | 23 | Kenya Huggins | SP | 22.6 | ATH | CIN | Andujar | Remade his body coming off TJ and now looks like an efficient sinker/changeup starter. |
40+ | 24 | Ashton Izzi | SP | 21.7 | ARI | SEA | Naylor | Dev project with an ideal pitcher’s build and arm action, and a good slider. Malleable arm strength guy with upside. |
40+ | 25 | Jadher Areinamo | 2B | 21.7 | TBR | MIL | Jansen | Limited athlete with an entertaining swing and great bat-to-ball skills. |
40+ | 26 | Jesus Baez | 3B | 20.4 | STL | NYM | Helsley | Loose rotational athlete with a plus arm and bat speed, a crude approach, and an unclear defensive fit. Maikel Franco skill set. |
40+ | 27 | Jesus Rodriguez | C | 23.3 | SFG | NYY | Doval | Twitchy catcher with a 70 arm and improving defensive skills. Funky swing and a poor approach. Fun backup catcher fit. |
40+ | 28 | Cam Devanney | SS | 28.3 | PIT | KCR | Frazier | Viable shortstop in his physical prime, has playable power and should have a window of relevance prior to age-related decline. |
40+ | 29 | Andrew Hoffmann | SIRP | 25.5 | ARI | KCR | Grichuk | Mid-90s fastball, plus changeup, slightly better than the standard middle-inning fit. |
40+ | 30 | Brandyn Garcia | MIRP | 25.2 | ARI | SEA | Naylor | Lefty specialist look except he sits 96. |
FV | Rank | Player | Pos | Age | To | From | Trade |
40+ | 31 | Eriq Swan | SIRP | 23.8 | WSN | LAD | Call | Huge-framed dev project whose fastball command has made little progress. Could be a nasty slider-heavy reliever. |
40+ | 32 | Anthony Nunez | SIRP | 24.1 | BAL | NYM | Mullins | Athletic catcher with oppo-geared swing who’s looked overwhelmed in full-season ball. Plate discipline and defense should be plus at peak. |
40+ | 33 | Edgleen Perez | C | 19.2 | PIT | NYY | Bednar | A recent conversion arm who took a circuitous route to pro ball, Nunez has plus command of a plus slider and should be in Baltimore’s bullpen next year. |
40+ | 34 | Ronny Cruz | SS | 18.9 | WSN | CHC | Soroka | Lanky infielder who hit for power in rookie ball. Big long-term power ceiling with contact risk. |
40 | 35 | Juaron Watts-Brown | MIRP | 23.4 | BAL | TOR | Domínguez | Plus secondary stuff, among the minor league leaders in swinging strike rate. Fastball command and quality point to the bullpen. |
40 | 36 | Rafael Flores | C | 24.7 | PIT | NYY | Bednar | Huge-framed catcher with power. Has developed as a receiver but still has questionable plate coverage and arm. |
40 | 37 | Wilberson De Pena | RF | 18.7 | NYY | LAA | Peraza | Toolsy outfielder who’s had a significant uptick in raw power. Exciting, high-ceiling sleeper in his second DSL season. |
40 | 38 | Boston Bateman | SP | 19.9 | BAL | SDP | O’Hearn/Laureano | Enormous lefty with limited ceiling due to secondary pitch quality. Workhorse fifth starter type who’s still years away from the bigs. |
40 | 39 | Hunter Feduccia | C | 28.2 | TBR | LAD | Littell | Bat-first backup catcher who struggles to control the run game. |
40 | 40 | Blaze Jordan | 1B | 22.6 | STL | BOS | Matz | Hitterish 1B/3B with a terrifying lack of plate discipline. Talented, if volatile, corner role player. |
40 | 41 | Sammy Stafura | SS | 19.9 | PIT | CIN | Hayes | Physical shortstop without ideal arm. Has some pop, in-game power limited by below-average hit tool. |
40 | 42 | Duncan Davitt | SP | 25.9 | CHW | TBR | Houser | Surgical righty with below-average stuff. Backend starter/swingman ready for prime time. |
FV | Rank | Player | Pos | Age | To | From | Trade |
40 | 43 | Griffin Herring | SP | 22.2 | COL | NYY | McMahon | Has made changes since turning pro — more sliders, better extension, higher arm slot — and the result looks like a stable backend starter despite 30-grade fastball velocity. |
40 | 44 | Ryan Gallagher | SP | 22.5 | MIN | CHC | Castro | Strike-throwing backend starter with a plus screwball-style changeup. |
40 | 45 | Sean Paul Liñan | SP | 20.7 | WSN | LAD | Call | Changeup-heavy righty who sits 91. Has enough command to start, but not enough to be an impact guy while sitting 91. |
40 | 46 | Wilfri De La Cruz | 3B | 17.9 | BAL | CHC | Kittredge | Projectable young infielder with classic low-ball swing. High-variance lottery ticket. |

40 | 48 | Everson Pereira | CF | 24.3 | TBR | NYY | Caballero | Power/speed outfielder whose hit tool is suspect. Most likely a fifth outfielder. |

40 | 50 | Esmil Valencia | LF | 19.8 | MIA | HOU | Jesús Sánchez | Small-but-physical outfield prospect with base-stealing acumen and a funky swing. |
40 | 51 | Zach Ehrhard | RF | 22.5 | LAD | BOS | May | Pull-heavy corner outfielder with max-effort swing. |
40 | 52 | Hendry Mendez | LF | 21.7 | MIN | PHI | Bader | LF/DH-only fit on defense. Outstanding hand-eye and bat control, but with extreme groundball output. |
FV | Rank | Player | Pos | Age | To | From | Trade |
40 | 53 | Callan Moss | 1B | 21.9 | PIT | KCR | Falter | Small-school first baseman who’s hit through the mid-minors. Swing is often too late to do damage despite strength in hands. |

40 | 59 | Micah Ashman | MIRP | 22.9 | BAL | DET | Morton | 6-foot-7 long relief prospect whose size creates extra downhill movement on his secondary stuff. |
40 | 60 | Skylar Hales | SIRP | 23.8 | STL | TEX | Maton | Athletic relief prospect with prototypical 6-foot-4 frame and mid-90s velo, but poor control. |

35+ | 62 | Ben Shields | SIRP | 26.5 | COL | NYY | Bird | Two-pitch lefty with fastball carry that puts him on the starter/reliever line despite lacking a third true weapon. |
35+ | 63 | Henry Baez | SP | 22.8 | ATH | SDP | Miller | Lanky depth starter whose fastball plays down. Is in his first season on the 40-man in what was likely a dev-only capacity prior to the trade. |
FV | Rank | Player | Pos | Age | To | From | Trade |
35+ | 64 | Nate Dohm | SP | 22.6 | STL | NYM | Helsley | Dev project despite SEC pedigree due to relief role and initial small school commitment. Sneaky fastball. |

35+ | 68 | Brandon Butterworth | SS | 22.9 | BAL | SDP | O’Hearn/Laureano | Plus athlete and viable shortstop defender. Has exciting contact data, but his swing generates skepticism it will hold. |
35+ | 69 | Enrique Jimenez | C | 19.7 | MIN | DET | Paddack | Squat switch-hitting catcher with a plus arm. Second or third catcher projection. |
35+ | 70 | Paul Gervase | SIRP | 25.2 | LAD | TBR | Littell | Gigantic righty with elite extension, plus fastball playability. Walk-prone track record. |

I’m still a bit mystified how Tyler Rogers brought back so much more than Doval when Doval is arguably better and has several years of control remaining. Then again, as a Giants fan, I find it absolutely hilarious that Rogers arguably brought back more than Eugenio Suarez.
Doval is a complete headcase and I’m guessing Posey just wanted him out. Wild velo fluctuations, sometimes is sitting 100 but refuses to throw anything but a slider, forgets there’s a pitch clock regularly, forgets to cover first regularly, command is all over the place, can’t hold runners, super mopey attitude, stuff in decline, etc
