Jeff Sullivan FanGraphs Chat — 5/4/18

9:05

Jeff Sullivan: Hello friends

9:05

Jeff Sullivan: Welcome to Friday baseball chat

9:05

john: Hello, Jeff. Thank you for chatting.

9:06

Jeff Sullivan: Hello john. Thank you for chatting, because without any of you, this would be pathetic

9:06

Put me in coach: You have to tell me what is going on with Nick Markakis. He has the third highest WAR in the NL.

9:06

Jeff Sullivan: You can never really dig too deep on these things in a live-chat format, but Markakis has such a fun profile right now

Eric Longenhagen Prospects Chat: 5/3

2:02
Eric A Longenhagen: Hey, everyone. Gotta grab a coffee and tweet a link, so will be back momentarily.

2:04
Eric A Longenhagen: Okay, I’m back.

2:05
Bill: Any word on who the Mets are in on post round 1?

2:06
Eric A Longenhagen: No and I doubt we narrow it to anything more than a specific classification of player by draft day. They’re not really in position to target anyone specific with their second pick, too many cop picks ahead of them.

2:06
Joe: Thoughts on Caleb Feguson?

2:06
Eric A Longenhagen: above avg curveball, fastball is average, change a hair below. An up and down arm as far as we’re concerned.

Jay Jaffe FanGraphs Chat – 5/3/18

12:00
Jay Jaffe: Greetings from Brooklyn, where it’s suddenly 87 degrees. i think we skipped spring entirely.

12:00
Bork: Who’s the lucky recipient of this live Tommy John surgery?

12:01
Jay Jaffe: By the look of the game of Stroller Crash that my 20-month-old daughter is playing in the hallway, it might be her nameless doll.

12:02
v2micca: Have you ever seen a fanbase transition from optimism to fatalism as quickly as the 2018 Mets fans?

12:03
Jay Jaffe: For the moment it sounds like the Mets dodged a bullet regarding Jacob deGrom’s hypexetended elbow, but between the mixed messaging, the team’s long history of injury mismanagement, and the pitcher’s importance to their 2018 fate, you can understand why the fan base is a bit nervous.

12:04
Rob: Stroller Crash would be an excellent name for a rock band btw

Kiley McDaniel Chat – 5/2/18

2:02

Kiley McDaniel: Kiley is here! Just got to south GA as a stopover for Scout to see some family and play in the woods.

2:03

Kiley McDaniel: Plan is to see Kumar Rocker vs. Cole Wilcox then Anthony Seigler tomorrow, Ryan Rolison at South Carolina Friday, Cole Sands/FSU at Clemson Saturday, Joey Bart at GT Sunday, Ryan Weathers Monday, Travis Swaggerty at Auburn Tuesday then hopefully Parker Meadows playoff game Wednesday on the way home. Full week!

2:03

Kiley McDaniel: All subject to change, but that sounds like a pretty good run even with some adjustments

2:03

Kiley McDaniel: We’ll have a new mock draft next week around this time, probably just 10 picks but a different order than the last one

2:04

Kiley McDaniel: I’ll have the Twins list coming soon, the draft board will be a part of THE BOARD and an update to minor league portion of THE BOARD is also in the works

2:04

Kiley McDaniel: Along with video/reports on the players I’m seeing so yeah Eric and I have a lot going on right now

Meg Rowley FanGraphs Chat – 5/1/18

12:00
Meg Rowley: Hello, and welcome to  the chat!

12:01
Meg Rowley: There are roughly 200 Dodgers questions in the queue. And we will get to many of them! But first…

12:01
CamdenWarehouse: What’s next for the Mariners and Ichiro and when does it happen?

12:04
Meg Rowley: I imagine a somewhat painful parting is imminent. Heredia isn’t an All-Star but he is clearly a better option at this point than Ichiro, even just as a defensive replacement.

12:05
Meg Rowley: I was always concerned about how this was going to end. I don’t think it will cast a shadow for too long (Ichiro has to be aware he isn’t playing super well) but it’s a bummer of a footnote to add to a franchise legend’s story.

12:05
Q-Ball: It is now May….so, can Nats fans officially panic?  Improved NL East really not helping either.

Dan Szymborski FanGraphs Chat – 4/30/18

2:02
Dan Szymborski: And away we go!

2:02
Mark: Is Jason Kipnis as done as he looks? Brutal start to the year…

2:02
Dan Szymborski: He’s on my panic list on my piece at ESPN today.

2:02
Billy Beane: Dan, which would be more entertaining, watching wrestlers play baseball or baseball players wrestle?

2:02
Dan Szymborski: Baseball players wrestle.  Bad baseball really isn’t that much fun, but bad wrestling can be.

2:02
Ray Liotta as Shoeless Joe: How do Kurt Suzuki or Francisco Cervelli have more home runs than Evan Gattis?!

Travis Sawchik FanGraphs Chat

12:05
Travis Sawchik: Happy Acuna Era

12:05
Travis Sawchik: Let’s get started …

12:05
Kyle: Will Acuna be in the HOF in 25 years?

12:06
Travis Sawchik: Debuting at such a young age is actually a pretty big deal for HoF chances

12:07
Travis Sawchik: Acuna has about a 10% chance according to our own Jay Jaffe https://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/instagraphs/acunas-hall-of-fame-chance…

12:08
Travis Sawchik: But let’s let him play a bit first

Jeff Sullivan FanGraphs Chat — 4/27/18

9:07

Jeff Sullivan: Hello friends

9:07

Jeff Sullivan: Welcome to Friday baseball chat

9:08

Rock Kickass: Would you trust Snell v Boston or Godley v Washington tonight?

9:08

Jeff Sullivan: I know that this is a fantasy question, but regardless, Snell and Godley are good pitchers, and so I would trust them both

9:08

Jeff Sullivan: Probably Godley more given how the Nationals are presently shorthanded

9:09

(not that) James: When you’re looking for new topics to write Acuña, how do generate ideas? Like, do you just read through Acuña to get an idea of what happened that day, Acuña do you think more long- Acuña? I’m just Acuña in your Acuña-making Acuña. Acuña.

Jay Jaffe FanGraphs Chat – 4/26/18

12:00
Jay Jaffe: Good morning or afternoon folks, wherever you may be, and welcome to another edition of my Thursday chat.

12:01
Corey: Aaron Judge is not an 21 year old phenom, but he still has just 710 ML ABs and he’s got an wRC+ north of 200 again. Are we taking his greatness for granted already?

12:03
Jay Jaffe: I think there’s the danger of that happening in some quarters, particularly given an understandable desire to resist the volume of coverage and hype that comes with success as a Yankee. But with his shoulder healed, he’s certainly showing again that last year wasn’t entirely a fluke.

12:04
Murdoc: Favorite run or lift to lap at Snowbird?

12:06
Jay Jaffe: I’ve skied at Snowbird for 99% of my time in the sport. My favorite run is off the tram, down Upper Primrose Path and into the lower Cirque and then Anderson’s Hill. Man, it’s been 3 years since I’ve gotten to do that because of the book and the baby. I miss skiing.

12:06
BK: What is the highest probability you would give to a rookie of making the Hall of Fame? Over under 5%?
