.330/50: I looked it up on stat muse, and, weirdly, there are seven seasons where a player hit 50+ hr with a .349+ BA. And there are seven where a player hit 50+ with a .329+ BA. Barry in 01 was at .328 and one of Foxx’s two biggest years was .349. So… I know Zips doesn’t think AJ can keep THIS up, but given he’s been hitting like .370 for more than a year now, where would you rank the season all time if he “slumps” to finish the year at like a .335/.440/.712 with 50+ (again, measurably worse than he has been over the past year)? To me it would basically just be Barry and his special sauce since expansion ahead of it.

Dan Szymborski: I can’t give an exact ranking off-hand, but it’s an absolutely monster season, and I think it would cement his status as a Sandy Koufax-esque Hall of Famer if something bad happened.

Dan Szymborski: I would personally argue he’s already at that level, but I strongly suspect I’m much more willing to vote for a dizzying-peak/shortish career guy than most writers are

You have weakened: Your reverse-jinx powers are no match for the supernova that is Judge. I swear, every night he doesn’t show up in the highlights, I’m like, well, guess he had a bad game. (Looks at last night’s box score – 2-3 with a double and 2 walks)

Jay Jaffe: We’re seeing one of the best runs — if not the best — by a hitter in the 21st century. He’s hitting .414/.500/.783 (255 wRC+) six weeks into the season! Caught a few of his at-bats in the last couple of days and it’s like he’s using a pool cue out there to place the ball where the fielders ain’t.

Sodo Mojo: Who ends up with more Career WAR Julio Rodriguez or Aaron Judge.  I don’t think Julio ever approaches Judges single season rate stats but got a 4 year head start.

Jay Jaffe: I’m gonna go with the guy who looks like he might be on his way to his third 10-win season out of four.

Eric A Longenhagen: I didn’t see that, that’s fun. He’s hit a ball harder already this year than he did in each of the last two seasons, there’s a real chance he’s taken a leap.

Jeb: When does Bubba Chandler come up? Not sure there is much more for him to prove in AAA at this point. Probably not Skenes level good, but level below good?

Eric A Longenhagen: If I had to bet, I’d say he comes up late enough to retain rookie eligibility next season.

bk: If Nimmala can sustain this level of K rate, how much does that improve his prospect stock?

You Buying…: Wilyer Abreu’s start? His k-rate is a smooch above where you’d probably like it to be but the underlying metrics seem to really support this breakout. ZiPS was already the most bullish projection system on him and hopefully that continues, for my fantasy team’s sake.
